Premium content comes with a high bar for who gets access to it.
As contextual technology becomes more sophisticated, technology partners are working closer to the content itself, analyzing video at the scene and moment level to create new opportunities for advertising, commerce, and interactivity.
That access comes with responsibility.
KERV.ai recently became the first AI-video technology platform specializing in contextual commerce to achieve Trusted Partner Network (TPN) Gold Star certification, the highest level within TPN’s content security framework. The certification follows a three-year, company-wide investment in meeting the security standards expected across the premium media and entertainment ecosystem.
What TPN Gold Star Actually Means
Owned by the Motion Picture Association (MPA), TPN is a global content security initiative designed to help studios, publishers, platforms, and their technology partners protect premium content and data across the media supply chain.
Its certification framework has four tiers: Blue, Silver, Gold, and Gold Star.
Gold Star requires an independent assessment of a company’s security practices against the MPA’s Content Security Best Practices, from IT and network security to access controls, data protection, incident response, and cloud environments. Any issues found must be addressed and verified before certification is awarded.
Why Security Matters to Contextual Advertising
Contextual advertising used to rely largely on broad signals about content: genre, program, channel, keywords, or other information describing what someone was watching.
That’s changing.
KERV’s technology analyzes video frame by frame to understand what’s happening within the content itself. Its Moment Match Engine™ uses that intelligence to identify opportunities for advertising around specific, relevant moments.
That means operating much closer to publishers’ most valuable asset.
At the same time, premium video increasingly moves through cloud-based systems and a complex network of technology partners. For publishers and content owners, deciding who gets access to their environments requires confidence in more than the technology. They need to know how their content and data will be protected.
What It Means for KERV’s Partners
For publishers, studios, platforms, and other premium content owners, security reviews are part of determining which technology partners can access their environments.
TPN Gold Star gives them an independently verified security credential based on standards developed specifically for the media and entertainment industry. It can help reduce friction during vendor security reviews and provide greater confidence when partners evaluate, onboard, or expand their work with KERV.
It also creates a stronger foundation for what comes next.
As KERV analyzes more premium content, supports more live and on-demand video, and expands the Moment Match Engine, its security infrastructure has to scale alongside those capabilities.
Three Years Behind the Gold Star
Achieving Gold Star took KERV three years.
Teams across Engineering, IT, Product, Operations, HR, Finance, and Corporate Security worked to strengthen controls, improve and document processes, and meet the requirements of the independent assessment.
TPN certification isn’t required across the industry. Pursuing its highest level meant voluntarily putting KERV’s security practices through extensive external review and addressing the findings that came out of it.
For KERV, that investment reflects the responsibility that comes with working this closely with premium content.
The technology will keep advancing. Contextual intelligence will get more precise. More content will be analyzed and activated in real time.
The security behind it has to keep pace.
